Custom Injection-Molded LED Light Pipes
Connect the LED, clear molded guide and visible panel indicator in one design review.
Request custom light-pipe parts made to your assembly requirements. Share the LED package, PCB and panel geometry so material, tooling and optical acceptance can be reviewed together. This is custom component supply, not a catalog of interchangeable stock indicators.

Product details
Explore the light path and its mounting features
Detailed design illustrations show entry faces, exits, bends and locating features. Optical behavior requires evaluation of the actual assembly.

Straight guide
Define the entry, exit and retention interfaces separately.

Right-angle form
A changed path needs review of geometry, finish and actual illumination.

LED entry
Specify the relevant gap and offset through a controlled assembly reference.

Indicator face
Agree visible appearance and viewing conditions before approving samples.

Mounting feet
Mounting should locate the guide without undocumented assembly stress.
Illustrative configurations. Final specifications follow your approved drawings.
Application fit
Custom clear parts for a defined indicator assembly
Specify what the user must see, then relate that requirement to the LED, guide and surrounding housing.

Front-panel indicators
Straight or angled clear guides for customer-defined PCB-to-panel arrangements, with controlled mounting and visible exit features.
Separated status channels
Individual guides used with a reviewed carrier or enclosure concept. Define unwanted light paths and the conditions for checking adjacent indicators.
Instrument interfaces
Custom guide geometries for constrained assemblies where stock mounting or indicator arrangements do not satisfy the interfaces.
Quote-ready inputs
What to send for a meaningful quotation
Use the same drawing and requirements for every proposal. Mark open decisions explicitly so that a low price does not conceal a different deliverable.
| Area | Please provide | Review before release |
|---|---|---|
| Assembly | LED package and position, PCB, panel and counterpart models. | Control gap, offset, retention and permissible movement. |
| Optical requirement | Viewing angles, ambient conditions, active channels and acceptance references. | Separate dimensional conformance from visible indicator performance. |
| Resin | Candidate grade, temperature and cleaning exposure. | Review optical and mechanical needs with current manufacturer guidance. |
| Surface zones | Entry and exit faces, visible surfaces and witness restrictions. | Agree gate, parting line, ejection and finish before tooling. |
| Validation | Representative LEDs, power conditions, sample plan and records. | Keep the illuminated configuration repeatable and traceable. |
| Supply | Drawing revision, sample quantity, repeat demand and packing. | Separate tooling, approval samples and recurring production scope. |
From drawing to approval
From indicator requirements to an approved molded guide

Map the assembly
Reconcile LED, board and panel revisions and identify the locating scheme.
Review material and tool
Evaluate exact resin, optical surfaces, gate and release constraints before making the mold.
Compare representative samples
Use identified parts and the agreed illumination setup; record both dimensions and visible behavior.
Approve the configuration
Release the material, geometry and acceptance record together, with changes subject to review.
Practical engineering and buying guides
Six decisions to make before production
- LED Light Pipe Selection: Geometry and Mounting OptionsChoose a molded LED light pipe around the board, panel and viewing requirements. Compare straight, right-angle and array designs with mounting constraints.
- PMMA vs Polycarbonate for LED Light Pipes: How to ChooseCompare PMMA and polycarbonate light-pipe grades against optical path, heat, impact, cleaning and molding requirements rather than clarity alone.
- LED-to-Light-Pipe Gap and Offset: An Alignment ReviewEvaluate LED-to-light-pipe gap, lateral offset and tilt through the full assembly. Define locating references without treating the LED as a mechanical stop.
- LED Light Pipe Crosstalk: Design the Isolation PathReview unwanted light between adjacent LED indicators, from the entrance and shared plastic to the front-panel mask and assembled acceptance checks.
- Light Pipe Molding: Gates, Parting Lines and EjectionPlan LED light-pipe gates, parting lines and ejector contacts around optical surfaces, mounting features and an agreed molded-sample inspection.
- LED Light Pipe Acceptance: Brightness and UniformityWrite a repeatable LED light-pipe sample review covering source configuration, viewing conditions, uniformity, neighboring indicators and traceability.
Before you request a quote
Is PMMA always preferable to polycarbonate?
No. Exact grade, exposure, geometry, mounting and optical requirements govern the choice. The complete indicator assembly needs evaluation.
Can a drawing guarantee uniform brightness?
No. The LED, guide surfaces, geometry and viewing conditions must be evaluated together using agreed representative samples.
Do you supply standard replacement light pipes?
This page covers custom molded components made to an agreed design. Confirm stock alternatives before committing to custom tooling.
What should accompany the CAD file?
Send the LED and counterpart details, material requirements, expected quantities, surface restrictions and proposed acceptance conditions.
Your next step
Discuss the part with its intended function.
Send the guide with its LED, PCB and panel context. We can then discuss a defined molding and sample-review scope.
