Steel CNC Machining FAQs

Fecision can achieve standard tolerances of ±0.005" (±0.127mm) for most steel CNC machined parts. For precision applications, we can maintain tolerances as tight as ±0.001" (±0.025mm) on specific features. The achievable tolerance depends on factors such as part geometry, steel grade, and feature complexity. Our quality control process includes CMM inspection to verify dimensional accuracy.
For high-temperature applications, we typically recommend heat-resistant stainless steel grades such as 309, 310, or 330, which can withstand temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C). For moderate high-temperature applications, 17-4 PH stainless steel offers good strength retention up to 600°F (316°C). Tool steels like H13 also perform well at elevated temperatures. The optimal choice depends on your specific temperature requirements, mechanical loads, and environmental conditions.
